Museum in Jablanica

The Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina used this cultural institution in Jablanica as a detention facility for Croat civilians and soldiers from April 15, 1993, to March 22, 1994. In the museum, detainees were made beat each other and were forced into sexual relations.

On April 15, 1993, Croatian Defence Council (HVO) units attacked Jablanica, Sovići and Doljani. (para. 120-122. second instance verdict of Nihad Bojadžić, p. 50.)
From the second half of April 1993, the first Croat prisoners were imprisoned in the basement of the Museum of the Battle for the Wounded on the Neretva. (para. 253. second instance verdict of Nihad Bojadžić, p. 89.)
After the ARBiH occupied Doljani at the end of July 1993, Croat women and children were housed in the left wing of the ground floor. In the fall of 1993, in the right wing of the ground floor, lived Bosniak refugees who were expelled from Herzegovina by the HVO. (para. 254. second instance verdict of Nihad Bojadžić, p. 89.)
During the summer, prisoners of war were beaten, some of whom lost consciousness. They were also mentally abused in the detention facility. (paras. 289-309., 369-376., 391-398., second instance verdict Nihad Bojadžić, pp. 6-7, 98-102, 123-124, 128-129.)

The prisoners of war and civilians of Croat ethnicity who were detained in the basement of the Museum of Battle for the Wounded on the Neretva during July 1993 were beaten by members of the ARBiH. (Mirsad Tahirović, pp. 1-2, 15-17, 22-23.)
Captured at the age of 14, Tomislav Zelenika recalls the harsh conditions and torture endured by civilians and soldiers detained in the museum in Jablanica. Today he is especially offended by the fact that there is not even a memorial plaque to indicate the suffering of around 600 people there.
