The fire station in Bosanski Novi (today Novi Grad) was one of at least 10 detention centres in which Serb authorities detained civilians, predominantly Bosniaks and Croats, in this town in 1992.

In 1992, Serb authorities detained civilians of predominantly Bosniak and Croat ethnicity in several detention centres in Bosanski Novi. These include the police station, the Mlakve stadium, the Bosanska Kostajnica police station, the fire station, the Una Hotel, a location called Suha Međa, the Blagaj Japra School, the premises of the company Japra, and private houses. From the beginning of June 1992, Bosniak civilians in the Bosanski Novi Municipality were detained at the Mlakve football stadium, and later at the Bosanski Novi fire station, where they were held until the end of August 1992. (para. 798. Brđanin, p. 262.)

Guards took nine detained Bosniaks from the Mlakve stadium and beat them to death in the fire station sometime between June 11 and July 27, 1992. Six other people were transferred from the stadium along with the deceased. (para. 413. Krajišnik, p. 157.), (para. 1481. Karadžić, vol. II, p. 599.)

About 20 Bosniak men were detained in the fire station and beaten with baseball bats, truncheons, wooden sticks, fists, and feet. One man died from the beatings. (paras. 803-804. Brđanin, pp. 263-264.)
